This is probably one of the strangest places to grab a bubble tea in Vancouver, but I’m glad we found this spot which is located on Pender St. in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. It used to be a part of a Asian bookstore, but has since been converted to a Chinese dress shop. It’s a weird combination, but I like the uniqueness. I’m not sure how Tre and I found this place. Probably wandering around aimlessly looking for interesting finds like we usually do.

BreakfastDutch Wooden Shoe Cafe

[rating:4] :

Nothing’s more Dutch than a pair of wooden shoes. Or maybe Dutch pancakes. The owner of The Dutch Wooden Shoe apparently started the De Dutch Pannekoek House chain. You have him to thank for that. After founding the chain, he likely got fed up and cashed out — and opened up The Dutch Wooden Shoe, his own take on the classic Dutch Pancake House. Incidentally, the Dutch don’t eat pancakes for breakfast, that’s just an annoying North American habit.

We came to Habit Lounge to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Habit is a restaurant style lounge located on Main Street. The outside wood paneling makes this a sleek looking spot; its minimalist style decor, designed with warm colors makes it a comfortable place to come and chill while enjoying some good food and drinks.

DessertTrue Confections

[rating:4]

Tre first took me here on a date years ago. I can’t say I was too crazy about it back then. I don’t know if it was because of the ghost story he was telling me on the way here, or that the place was jammed back and claustrophobic. But it kind of killed the mood. We’ve since come back, and the experience was much more enjoyable. We like this place; it attracts an unusual crowd of international students socializing and studying, and hipster westenders looking for a nightcap. We often see some couples deeply involved in their game boys, some come to socialize, other’s are just deep in their thoughts. We like to come and share conversation and enjoy something sweet.

LunchPho Hoang Vietnamese Restaurant

[rating: 4]

On a cold day, nothing taste better than a piping hot bowl of noodle soup. With the weather changing and winter creeping upon us, now is the best time to hit this spot on Main. Pho Hoang is a regular spot we go to whenever we feel like some yummy soup. Pho,  which is traditionally known as a Vietnamese rice-noodle soup, is made in simmering beef or chicken broth. Garnished with cilantro, green onions, white onions, Thai basil, lime wedges, bean sprouts and hot chili peppers.
