LunchNat’s New York Pizzeria

[rating: 3] :

Nat's New York Pizza

Dollar pizza slices used to be as ubiquitous in Downtown Vancouver as Starbucks coffee, or those little dogs sporting ridiculous sweaters. It’s become more of an artifact — much to the dismay of the on-the-go lunch crowd and the post-clubbing sustenance seekers. Nat’s New York Pizzeria on the West End of Vancouver may not serve pizzas for a Loonie, but they keep the same spirit alive with a nice selection of single slice goodness.

Ponchos

(Clockwise from Left to Right: 1. Nothing says authentic Mexican food like a cactus wearing a sombrero. 2. Ponchos Menu. 3. Complimentary nachos.)

Poncho’s is a Mexican restaurant located on Denman Street that offers mediocre food, but one hell of a great margarita. They have great a view of Denman. If you’re lucky to get seated in front of the open window, take advantage and enjoy your meal and people watch at the same time. In the summer months, when Poncho’s opens up the window, you feel like you’re eating outside on a patio even though you’re not.

DinnerKintaro Ramen

[rating: 5] :

Kintaro Ramen

We think one of Vancouver’s best source of noodle soup is the invariable Kintaro on Denman just North of Robson. I’m sure there are detractors, claiming Kintaro to be over rated and citing other noodle houses as more authentic. Regardless, we think Kintaro has yet to meet its match — and judging by the frustratingly endless lineups on any given day or evening, we think other noodle afficianados from across the city agree.

LunchGoldilocks

[rating:4]

Goldilocks

Goldilocks is a popular chain of bake shops from the Philipines. There are a growing number of locations across North America including two right here in the Lower Mainland. We’ve been faithful Goldilocks customers for a while. But with limited seating, large crowds and consistently slow service, you’ll also need a bit of patience. We haven’t been here lately, other than popping in to grab the occasional peanut polvoron, so we thought it’s about time we drop by for the food again.

LunchWonton King Chinese Restaurant

[rating:3] :

Wonton King

Wonton King Chinese Restaurant claim to be the King of Wontons, it says so in their name. Located on South East Marine Drive in Vancouver, this restaurant has been hyped to have the best wontons. That’s a pretty big statement, so Tre and I had to come and see for ourselves whether the king deserved the crown.
