Now that we’re in the middle of playoffs (Go Canucks Go), I thought it’d be pertinent to look at the only acceptable culinary accompaniment to the noble sport of hockey. Namely, the humble yet universally awesome take out pizza. Bella Pizza in Burnaby has been our primary supplier of cheese and pepperoni for a long time.

Congee Noodle House

Congee restaurants are a great place to hit when feeling under the weather. Congee is rice porridge and is essentially the Chinese equivalent to chicken noodle soup. It isn’t a terribly exciting dish, but when made right, with the right fixings and seasonings, it can really satisfy the soul. After a particularly hellish hangover, Tre thought it’d be a good idea to take me out to Congee Noodle House to recover.

Subeez for Dinner

Now that playoff season is upon us (Go Canucks Go), one thing to consider is the all important pre-game meal. If you’re watching at GM Place, may we suggest Subeez. Dinners at Subeez isn’t always a sure thing. For some reason the service and the food has been inconsistent, unlike their breakfasts. But we hoped Subeez would be able to redeem themselves. We’re pretty hyped up for the game and having some good food before hand would make the night more pleasant.

Guu with  Garlic

Guu with Garlic picks up where the original Guu left off; it’s a little bit more modern, the crowd a bit younger, and the food more contemporary. If Guu is the O.G., with food and atmosphere grounded in tradition and comfort, then Guu with Garlic is the young blood — scrappy and eager to show the world its new tricks.
