Tucked away on West Broadway, is the well hidden Favorito Pasta Trattoria. They’ve been serving Northern Italian cuisine here for years. With the Canada Line construction putting a damper on small businesses, we’re happy to see this place still hanging on. We’ve walked by here many times before thinking that it’s closed, but it’s not. The tinted windows and dim lighting only make it seem that way.

Inside, the place is a lot bigger than it seems from the outside. The restaurant looks small and cozy. But it’s only cozy if you get seated near the window. The interior could use some new colours to warm up the place. The flow of this place feels off, but the great tasting pasta makes up for it.

As much as I love pasta, I can’t eat a whole plate myself. So, I’m glad Favorito offers half orders for people like me, who eat a lot more with their eyes than with their stomachs. You’re not saving much money, but it’s better than wasting it. I like to get the tortellini with prosciutto and peas. Tre likes the Linguine Carbonara with egg mixed in. Both of our pastas are awesome! The sauces are flavourful, and the pasta is cooked perfectly al dente. You can really taste the homestyle cooked flavours. Tre and I like to get a couple of glasses of house red wine to go with our meals.

Despite some less than favourable reviews from other people, our food and service have been consistently good. We noticed, however, the portions have been getting a little smaller lately. But what can you expect from businesses that are affected by the construction. One thing I notice is that it’s pretty quiet inside. Which is great if you want to gaze lovingly into your partner’s eyes, or it can also make you sleepy.
