Apple Sidra is a Taiwanese apple soda that comes in a simple yellow can. It’s one of those mysterious Asian beverages that could be either hideously terrible, or surprisingly tasty. Luckily, this one is tasty. We don’t normally have any sodas in our house, but will stock up if the Apple Sidra are on sale. They don’t come cheap, at over $6 for a six pack or $4 a litre.

Sockeye City Grill is a waterfront seafood restaurant right on the pier in Steveston. Normally, if we have a craving for fish and chips, Case and I would make our way a few blocks down to the end of the pier to Pajo’s — but this time, they were curiously not open, so we decided to duck into Sockeye.

Mui Garden on Main Street is an Asian diner/cafe that serves a mix of Hong Kong and Malaysian dishes. This gem has been around for years. It’s not the fanciest place to dine, but if you want simple, quick, cheap and tasty — Mui Garden has all that. The best time to come is during tea time (usually around 3 to 6pm) — when their mini meals are just under $6, including a drink  — an extra buck if you want the drinks cold.

Bandidas Tacqueria is a Vegetarian / Vegan restaurant serving Mexican inspired dishes with an eye towards sustainability and local community. Located in a renovated space that was previously occupied by an Indonesian restaurant, Bandidas consistently draws crowds to its Commercial Drive dining room.

Sunny Spot Cafe on Main is a cute little cafe that serves breakfasts in a friendly atmosphere. The cafe is just exactly how the name sounds — straight up friendly service in a bright cheery cafe. Tre and I have walked by Sunny Spot Cafe a number of times and their $3.95 breakfasts piqued our curiosity. Only a handful of restaurants still offer breakfast at these prices, so we just had to try it out.
