BreakfastGlowbal Grill and Satay Bar

Located in trendy Yaletown in the historic warehouse district, Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar has been serving west coast style food since 2002.  The sleek decor and electric vibe makes Glowbal a popular venue for both locals and out of towners. They serve power lunches daily, lazy brunches during the weekend and serve as a jumping point for a night out on the town, which makes Glowbal a well rounded restaurant.

It’s brunch time and Tre and I are famished. There are some tasty looking entrees, but two of them immediately caught our eye. Tre orders the Crab Crusted Sable Fish: poached eggs, asparagus tomato salad with sweet chili honey. The waitress informs us that Sable fish is out of season and that halibut would be the substitute. I opted for P.E.I. Lobster Benedict: poached eggs with lobster hollandaise on crispy pancetta and cheddar biscuit.

While waiting for our entrees, we were served fresh made mini donuts that came on a piece of wax newspaper in a bamboo steamer. The mini donuts were good and didn’t last long. The entrees arrive and are good — no real complaints. Tre’s crab crusted halibut is cooked nice and moist. My lobster benedict is good and the cheddar biscuits instead of the typical English Muffins adds a unique twist to the dish.

The service could use some tweaking, though. Nobody came to take our order or offer us any H2O for about 10 minutes after we were seated. It wasn’t until the hostess realized we were sitting like ducks that she went inside to fetch a server. Our hostess, however, was awesome. She greeted us with a big smile and seated us out on the heated patio lounge. She made sure I was comfortable and even handed me a blanket to keep me extra warm and comfy. The friendliness and thoughtfulness she showed was not typical for Yaletown.

Perfect For:

One of the better lunches in Yaletown or a nicy, lazy weekend brunch basking in the sun on the outdoor patio.
