DessertEstea Beverage Club

[rating:1] :

Tre and I and a few friends hit Estea Beverage Club in Burnaby. It’s been a while since we’ve been here. I actually thought the place had closed down, but was informed that it’s been renovated. As we walked in, we noticed it’s gone from funky modern to sleek and sophisticated. Dark wood floors, white suede chairs, bamboo potted pots with intimate lighting. The place was packed, but we still managed to get a table. The ambiance was nice, but the crowd is younger. Our waiter didn’t seem too interested in taking our order. I was feeling out of my element here, and I know Tre is too.

LunchWah Yuen Noodle

[rating:4] :

Trying to find parking at Yaohan Centre in Richmond can be frustrating. I don’t really have patience for drivers holding up traffic just to get a parking spot that’s 2 feet closer to the entrance. It can be especially aggravating if you’re very hungry. But the wonton noodle soup and chinese donut stuffed rice rolls at Wah Yuen Noodle in Yahoan’s food court is worth the parking lot misery.

SnacksBrioche

[rating:2] :

After a hard afternoon of stomping around gastown, we occasionally like to unwind a bit with a nice cup of coffee and a sweet thing on the side. Brioche is a bustling, bohemian coffee shop and bakery on Cordova, just on the edge of Gastown. Two sets of lonely patio tables with seating guard the entrance just outside the cafe.

LunchPho Thai Hoa

[rating:2] :

There’s nothing quite like a piping hot bowl of soup, especially beef noodle soup. We usually stick to our local joints because we know they’ll be consistently good. But occasionally, it’s nice to try a different spot. Tre and I often pass by Pho Thai Hoa on Kingway. This place always seems to be busy, which is usually a good sign… usually.

DinnerKingyo

[rating:3] :

Kingyo is a Japanese Izakaya bar that offers a variety of tapas in a trendy environment. It combines the look of old world Japan with a modern twist, which makes this place more swanky compared to the more rustic, traditional Izakayas. The ambiance is calming and the interior design is beautiful.
