Bubble tea establishments are pretty predictable: modern decor, play school wall colours, tinted lighting and filled with the chatter of young Asian kids. Richmond’s Pearl Castle, located inside Continental Plaza, is no exception. They’re known for their bubble teas, but also serve small meals.

Gastown gains a new resident in Nicli Antica Pizzeria, an attempt to expand Vancouver’s pizza palette with Neapolitan style pizzas that boasts ridiculously thin crusts baked for a mere 90 seconds and topped with simple, yet quality ingredients you can count on the digits of a single hand.

Seattle’s Rancho Bravo on East Pine Street has permanently hitched its distinctive green cart declaring ‘Mexican Food,’ to the parking lot of an old KFC to set up shop and serve an assortment of Mexican street food: tacos, tortas, and Mexican style corn on the cob.

Paseo is a quaint Caribbean restaurant in the Fremont area of North Seattle that dishes out wicked sandwiches out of a tiny little shack. They’re known especially for their Cuban Roast — a slow roasted pork shoulder sandwiched inside a crusty bun.

It’s spot prawn season, and BC opened it up early May. The season is very brief (too short for our liking) lasting until late June. Spot prawn season, however, is usually accompanied by bouts of sunshine and shorts weather. So a bunch of us decided to celebrate both with a potluck featuring fresh, grilled prawns on the barbeque.
